Kevin Curley congratulates Chancellor

Kevin Curley has written to the Chancellor, George Osborne MP, to congratulate the Government’s move to recognise the importance of social value. The Government has published a new annex to Green Book called ’Valuing Non- market impacts’This is the first time Social Value has been built into the Green Book. the government’s hand book on policy appraisal and evaluation.

The letter from Kevin Curley says the following

“I would like to congratulate the Treasury on the publication of the annex Valuing non-market impacts to the Green Book.

“NAVCA strongly supports the inclusion of social impacts in government policy formulation and appraisal and welcomes the recognition that impacts cannot always be adequately monetised. We believe that this approach supports local voluntary and community action.

The publication of the annex sends out a strong message from Government that supports the inclusion of social value into policy and commissioning by public bodies. We have informed our members of the publication and will follow further developments with great interest.”
