child poverty strategy - members briefing
The Government has published its child poverty strategy outlining plans for tackling child poverty over the next three years and eradicate child poverty by 2020. There are no significant new policy announcements but it does sets out how policy initiatives such as localism, payment by results, welfare reform, Early Intervention Grant, Community Budgets, Pupil Premium, National Citizen’s Service and Big Society will contribute to reducing child poverty.
NAVCA has produced a briefing to help members understand the key areas of the strategy and how local voluntary action can contribute to it. Members should ensure their local child poverty strategies address the key local issues and reflect the contribution that the local voluntary and community sector can make.
