Health & Social Care Bill - listening exercise
Following public opposition to the Health and Social Care Bill, including high profile opposition from medical professionals and the Liberal Democrats, the Department of Health recently launched a ‘Listening Exercise’ to allow people to comment on the Bill. Introducing the listening exercise, Health Secretary Andrew Lansley said “We are taking the opportunity of a natural break in the passage of the Bill to pause, listen, reflect and improve”.
This is an opportunity to get changes to the Bill. We want members to respond to the listening exercise and to help we have produced a briefing. This draws on our previous submissions to the Equity and Excellence White Paper consultations and sets out key recommendations for amendments to the Bill we want to see. In identifying these recommendations, we have focused particularly on the concerns expressed by NAVCA members and local voluntary organisations and community groups. However please also feel free to comment on the recommendations we are proposing or suggest additional ones.
Please send you comments or requests for further information to Jon Burke
